Il regolatore SunKeeper SK-6 è stato concepito con un'elettronica ad alta efficienza che consente di sopportare le alte temperature del pannello fotovoltaico. Tutta l'elettronica incapsulata in resina epossidica, le connessioni sono stagne e la scatola è classificata IP65 ed è resistente ai raggi UV, pertanto il regolatore è quindi adatto ad un uso all'esterno.
Il LED bicolore è facile da leggere da terra, anche quando il modulo solare è montato su palo. Indica la ricarica solare, la regolazione, il normale funzionamento notturno e eventuali guasti del controller o del sistema. 
Il regolatore SunKeeper SK-6 non consente la connessione del carico ma permette sostanzialmente solo la gestione della carica della batteria.
